  Group Chief Executive Officer

  Paul Russo, EBS, is the Chief Executive Officer of KCB Group PLC, appointed in May 2022. He is a member of the Boards of KCB Group PLC, KCB Bank Kenya, National Bank of Kenya (NBK), KCB Investment Bank, KCB Foundation, BPR Bank Rwanda Plc and Trust Merchant Bank (TMB). He is also a member of the Kenya Bankers Association Governing Council, the banking industry lobby.

  Paul also sits in the Boards of the National Investment Council, Presidential Taskforce on the establishment of a National Lottery and the National Steering Committee on Drought Response, appointed by Kenya’s President William Ruto. He is also a member of Steering Committee for the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Project.

  He was feted with a state commendation- Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) by the President for his immense contribution in Kenya’s financial services sector. He also serves in the United Nations Environment Programme Finance (UNEP-FI) Leadership Council, joining other global leaders in mainstreaming and deepening sustainability integration across the financial industry.

  He is responsible for overseeing the transformation of KCB Group into the undisputed leader in the financial services sector and a customer-focused financial powerhouse. He has extensive experience in banking, strategy, operational and people management. Paul is passionate about transforming the lives of communities, entrenching sustainable business practices and empowering people. “We must drive and deliver meaningful change and contribution in the society. At the end of the day, to claim success, we must challenge the status quo, take deliberate steps that may be outside our comfort zone to create a lasting and sustainable impact to the lives of the communities which we serve.”

  Previously, Paul served as the Regional Business Director, KCB Group Plc, and the MD NBK. A HR practioner, he has close to 25 years of work experience spanning executive and key roles including Group HR Director, KCB. He has served in other big corporates such as Barclays, PwC, K-Rep Bank, EABL, and Unga Holdings. He holds an MBA from Strathmore University Business School and a Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University. He also has a senior executive program for Africa Certificate from Harvard Business School.

  Lawrence Kimathi holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a merit from Warwick Business School UK, a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in accounting from United States International University – Africa (USIU) and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, CPA (K). He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and Institute of Directors. His senior leadership experience spans over 25 years having worked as Finance Director/CFO in a number of multinational organizations which include Cadbury East and Central Africa, AIG, East Africa Breweries Limited, BAT Sub Sahara Africa and BAT PLC in London.

  OTHER DIRECTORSHIPS: Lawrence serves in the KCB Uganda board and is a trustee of the KCB Staff Pension Fund defined benefit scheme.

  Annastacia Kimtai, KCB Bank Kenya’s Managing Director is an astute career Banker with over twenty five (25) years experience in Banking, twelve (12) years of which have been in senior management roles in Strategic Leadership and Business  Development. She previously served as Director, Retail Banking where she was in charge of over 210 branches in Kenya. 

  Annastacia sits on the Boards of KCB Bank Kenya, KCB Foundation, KCB Bank Kenya’s Board Credit Committee, KCB Bank Kenya’s Board Strategy & Digital Committee, and KCB Bank Kenya’s Board Audit Committee. She is also a Non-Executive Board Member of the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC).

  Annastacia has championed financial inclusion for customers at the bottom of the pyramid by steering development of products and services to serve this niche clientele. Annastacia is an expert in managing and turning around troubled business as part of the team seconded to manage Chase Bank and Imperial Bank in Receivership. She is also spearheading the Bank’s Flme (Female Led and Made Enterprises) project  for inclusion of more business women in Banking.

  Other than being knowledgeable, dynamic and results oriented, Annastacia is a strategic thinker whose strength lies in execution of goals leading to consistent delivery of exceptional results.  Annastacia’s strength is in people leadership with a bias for effective communication which enables  her to nurture, mentor and coach leaders. A person of high integrity with strong values of honesty, fairness, commitment to corporate governance, risk management and compliance, she works seamlessly with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, and participates in networking and stakeholder engagements. She believes in strong leaders being accountable for results, being effective, being reliable, being competent, and being authentic.

  Annastacia holds a MBA Degree in Business Administration & Strategic Management, MA Degree in Rural Economics and Cooperation, a

  BA Degree in Community Development, Economics and Rural Banking. She is a Certified Executive Coach from the Academy of Executive Coaching (AOEC). She is a graduate of the Senior Executive Program for Africa (SEPA) from Harvard University and the Global Executive Development Program from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Business School.

  Cosmas Kimario is the Group Regional Businesses Director, KCB Group PLC with effect from January 25, 2023.

  Cosmas is a seasoned banker with over 25 years of experience in Finance and Treasury. He is known for his proven track record of success in managing financial and commodity derivatives, corporate treasury teams and other financial divisions. 

  With a wealth of experience in Treasury and Derivative Sales, gained while working across Citigroup USA, London in the UK, Lagos in Nigeria, Dakar in Senegal, Nairobi in Kenya and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Cosmas has a deep understanding of the global financial markets. His ability to develop complex financial instruments is a testament to his expertise. Cosmas is one of the pioneers who introduced Foreign Exchange Options and Derivatives in many markets in Africa including Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia.

  Managing teams of professionals in multiple locations has given him a well-rounded perspective of finance, treasury operations and general business management skills. His ability to lead, manage and motivate teams of professionals in challenging environments has resulted in significant growth of the businesses he has led.

  Cosmas holds an MBA in Finance and a Master of International Management (MIM) from Thunderbird – The American Graduate School of International Management USA as well as Bachelor of Commerce and Management Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam.

  Japheth was appointed the Group Human Resource Director, KCB Group PLC on July 8, 2019. He has over 19 years’ of work experience spanning executive and key roles including Africa Regional HR Director (Allianz Africa), Group HR Business Manager – Operations and Technology and Head of HR eProcess International (Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Accra-Ghana), Head of HR Operations & Employee Shared Services (Safaricom Ltd), West & Central Africa Human Resource Head (Citibank N.A Ltd, Dakar, Senegal), Senior Division Human Resource Generalist- Sub Sahara Africa Division (Citibank N.A Ltd, Johannesburg, South Africa), Acting Country Human Resource Officer (CHRO) - Citibank Tanzania (Citibank N.A Ltd, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania) and Compensation and Benefits Manager – Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (Citibank N.A Ltd, Nairobi, Kenya).                                                                    

  Japheth holds a Master’s degree of Science (Human Resource Management & Training) from University of Leicester – London, UK; Post Graduate Certificate (Human Resource Management) from university of Wales – London, UK and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. Science) from Kenyatta university – Nairobi, Kenya.

• Dennis Volemi Group Director, Technology

  Dennis Volemi is the Group Director, Technology , appointed on October 1, 2023.

  He has over 18 years experience as a Technology and Business Leader in telecommunications, media and entertainment, and financial services industry with both local and multi-national companies in Kenya. He has a vast knowledge and experience in development of IT strategies, technology management, deployment, score carding and governance in alignment to a company’s vision and mission.

  He joined KCB Group from Diamond Trust Bank Limited where he was serving as Chief Information and Digital Officer from April 2023. Prior to this, he was the Group Chief Information Officer at Equity Group Holdings Limited. He has previously worked in senior roles at NCBA Group Limited, Wananchi Group Limited and Safaricom Limited.

  Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science from Kenyatta University and a Senior Management Leadership Programme from Strathmore University.

• BONNIE OKUMU Group General Counsel

  Bonnie is the Group General Counsel, KCB Bank Kenya. She was appointed to the role in July 2018. Before the appointment, she was serving as the Head, Legal Services since January 2014. She has served as Company Secretary for KCB Bank Kenya since January 2016.

  Before joining KCB, she was the Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer and Company Secretary at Telkom Kenya Limited. Prior to this she was the General Counsel and Company Secretary at Unilever Kenya Limited where she oversaw the legal and company secretarial functions for 9 operating companies in 7 countries in East and Southern Africa. Until she joined Unilever, she was the Regional Legal Manager for Nestle where she set up the legal department and led a team of lawyers in providing legal and tax advisory services to 14 operating entities in 20 countries in the Equatorial African Region.

  Earlier in her career, she was an associate at Hamilton & Mathews where she represented clients including banks, insurance companies and consumer goods companies. She holds an LL.B from the University of Nairobi, is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya as well as a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K).

  Rosalind was appointed the Group Director Marketing & Communication, KCB Group PLC on August 9^th, 2021. She has a career spanning over 21 years, having served in various local and international corporations.

  Rosalind joined KCB from NCBA Group PLC where she has been serving in a similar capacity since 2019. She has previously worked for NIC Group PLC, Coca-Cola SABCO (now Coca-Cola Beverages Africa), The Coca-Cola Company, and The Gillette Company (now Proctor and Gamble).

  She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Northeastern University, Boston, USA and a Bachelor of Commerce (General Management) from McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She is also a Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching, United Kingdom.

• Anthony Kituyi Mulisa Group Director, Treasury
  

  Anthony Kituyi Mulisa

  Group Director, Treasury

  Anthony Kituyi Mulisa is the Group Director, Treasury at KCB Group Plc. He was appointed in March 2024. Anthony has over 28 years of banking experience having spent 23 years in large and middle-sized treasuries in various African markets.

   

  He has served in several treasury roles within Barclays PLC, Absa Group including National Bank of Commerce in Tanzania. He has chaired the Financial Markets Sub-committee of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA), is a member of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), Derivative Board Oversight Committee and continues to serve on other corporate boards in Kenya.

   

  Anthony is a certified currency and fixed-income trader through the ACI-Financial Markets (France) and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (AGIB, UK). He holds a BSc degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester and an MBA from Manchester Business School.

  Faith Basiye is the Group Chief Risk Officer, appointed on 8th July 2024.

  She was previously the Head of Forensic Services, KCB Group. She is a distinguished professional with over 26 years of expertise in risk management, legal advisory, compliance, and forensic investigation, and is instrumental in developing comprehensive risk management strategies across the Group, particularly in financial contexts.

  Faith holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies. She also holds the following certificates: Certified Public Secretary (CPS) Kenya, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Computer Forensics Expert.

  Faith's career spans pivotal roles in both public and private sectors, including Senior Fraud Manager at Safaricom Ltd and Forensic Manager at KPMG, where she specialized in financial crime management. Her tenure at the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission focused on forensic investigation of corruption and economic crimes, highlighting her commitment to integrity and transparency.

  Faith has been recognized for her contributions, including being named among the Top 40 under 40 Women in Kenya, two years running- 2012 and 2013, and recently she was named among the Top 50 Lawyers in Kenya and Top 10 Women Lawyers in Private Sector (In-house) practitioners during the Nairobi Legal Awards, 2024.Beyond her professional achievements, Faith is known for her dedication to mentoring and sports, embodying a balance of professional excellence and personal fulfillment.

• PETER NJUGUNA Director, Treasury Division

  Peter Njuguna is the Director, Treasury Division, KCB Bank Kenya Ltd. He is a member of the KCB Kenya EXCO, ALCO, GLC (Group Leadership Committee) among other executive committees that support the running of the bank. He is a member of the Kenya Treasurers’ Association, a body that lobby for financial market development issues and a member of ACI Kenya- the financial market Dealers’ Association.

  Peter sits in the CBK Bond Market Forum, a committee that deliberates on bond issuance, macro-economic and debt market matters.

  He leads the treasury team in running the treasury business that includes Assets and liabilities management, provision of treasury FX solutions to clients that includes hedging, Treasury proprietary trading activities for both Fixed income and FX books and supports to internal on Treasury matters.

  Peter holds an MSC in Finance- Economic Policy from University of London, a BCOM degree from the University of Nairobi, is a certified public accountant (CPAK), an Associate of Kenya Institute of Bankers and holds ACI dealing Certificate.

• CAROLINE WANJERI KIHARA Director Mortgage Business

  Caroline is the Immediate Former Chief of Party- KCB Foundation and is currently the Director of Mortgage Business at KCB Kenya Limited. She has been with KCB cumulatively for 14 years. She also serves as a Board Director at Kenya Property Developers Association (KPDA) and serves in the Land Sector Board Committee for KEPSA (Kenya Private Sector Association.

  She played a critical role as a member of the taskforce that developed guidelines for the electronic registration of Land transactions- NLMIS- National Lands Management Information System.( Ardhi Sasa).

  She has Over 19 years’ experience in Real Estate and Mortgage Financing having worked in Senior Management in the top Mortgage lending financial institutions in Kenya. This includes Housing Finance, Standard Chartered Bank, Equity Bank and KCB .

  She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA(K) from Strathmore University holds a degree in BA (Mathematics and Business Studies) from Kenyatta University. She is also a Licentiate member of the Institute of Data Processing Management; LIDPM, ICPAK-Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and AWAK (Association of Women Accountants of Kenya).
