An Appreciation To All Kings Today – Happy International Men’s Day!

Wakuu, we hope ya’ll are aware that it’s International Men’s Day today!

If not, ni sawa tu pia. Your boy is here to remind you that you are important (but of course you know that 😉) and you should put your mental, emotional and physical well being first – and in light of #MoHealthMovember, tunahope mmekuwa on top of this mbaya.

Heh, the boy child really does go through it in today’s world (maybe even more so kitambo, coz guys weren’t as liberal and open to addressing men’s issues?) and kama majamaa, it’s important for us to come together and speak up about issues affecting us.

Nimekumbuka a certain sitch a couple of years back. I remember I was going through a bit of a rough patch career wise plus famo issues. I was dating a certainghel and I eas like hey, why not speak to her about it… So admin poured his heart out to the missus, hoping to get some advice and hamutaamini what I was told. “ Aih, babe, those are small small issues. As a man you should deal with them, it’s not that deep”. Safia chwest pains 😫

And ‘as a man’ I for sure dealt with them solo, thinking that if my own babes insinuated it’s not that big of a deal, then surely it can’t be that bad? So I shied away from opening up to even my boys coz I felt like I should handle it like the man I am. Ptoh!

Which brings me to this: noooo, it’s not okay to hold issues in just coz wewe ni ‘mjamaa’. Men should be made to feel like their problems are not important or given stigma for going through problems, which everyone does. So mnaweza imagine how many men are in the same boat, a lot dealing with even bigger issues lakini wanafeel hawawezi air them out? Yo, struggling alone is something we should kick to the carb and I’m sure men are woke about this now…

So ladies (and gents too), tafadhali show the men in your life some extra TLC today… Nunulia bae lunch and send it to his office – I can assure you he probs didn’t bother carrying lunch it being a Friday and he could use a break from the kibandaski next to his jobo 😂, or halla at that friend, check up on them and let them vent.

The little things can go a really long way. We don’t get it enough TBH na inaskia poa feeling loved, appreciated and heard.

Na leo nimekuwa serious kidogo but it’s needed sometimes, right? Kwa hayo machahe, bazuu, today is your day… Switch off when you get home if you need to, talk to someone you trust about your burdens or even your highs, make that appointment, kasirika and book that trip you’ve been ‘manifesting’… Whatever you need to rewind – and have yourselves a dope Men’s Day 😎!

Over & Out,

The Witty Banker
