The dramatic tale of a Costly Text

My buddies are out just having fun on a Friday afternoon, then Denno bangs the table hard yelling "NO! NO! NO!" Saying they got concerned is an understatement, walishtuka manze!

This happened yesterday and mehn, it was a big day for them. One of the boys, Kevo was finally doing a 'ruracio' ama dowry negotiations for wale hawaelewi hii lugha. Everyone was proud coz ye ni wale ‘hawakuwangi serious’, so he was constantly teased with questions like 'Utaoa lini msee??'

Story ilienda like this: The day before the ruracio the boys decided to meet up, bond kidogo and pull some cash together to support Kevo. Mraiya ikaingia one by one, sat down and agreed that kila mtu atoe 10K. They sent this money to Denno, the unofficial group treasurer.

Kuanzia kitambo Denno has been the guy money is sent to whenever mchango inafanywa. Maybe it's because he's the eldest, sijui.

So after kutumia Denno chapaa, walianza story, kanyam chom kana-nice, Dj naye akacheza kama yeye dropping hit after hit of old school RnBs. It was turning out into a great night until Denno aka-bang meza.

"Buda ni nini??" "Radar?" "Oya, uko poa?" they all asked. Denno looked like he was about to lose his mind, constantly dialing the same number which repeatedly said ‘Mteja’. 

"Manze nimetuma kwa wrong number!!"

Kumbe wakiwa juu ya mastory, Denno got a text saying 'Tuma kwa hii number, hiyo ingine ina shida'. He assumed text imetoka kwa Kevo and with no hesitation akaskum doh, then texted Kevo and said 'Nimetuma'.

Imagine his surprise when Kevo texted him back saying 'Sijaget!' To make matters worse, mwenye alitumiwa ganji ame-go mteja! Walijikuta Police Station wanaandika statement. It became clear that Denno had been scammed.

Na hii ni kitu huwa ina-happen. Watu hu-get conned using such simple text messages. Siri ni moja, don't trust messages from unknown contacts. Always verify contacts before sending any money or making any payments. Kaa radar, usikuwe kama Denno!
