KCB OUTSHINE KDF LADIES: HOW KVF BUNGOMA TOURNAMENT WAS WON BY BANKERS

KCB ladies volleyball team underlined their dominance over rivals KDF with a thoroughly 3-0(27-25,25-14,25-18) resounding victory when they clashed on Sunday 26th March 2018 in Bungoma town during the KVF tournament finals.

The surprise in head coach Vernon Khayinga line up for the finals included new signing Egline Kulova who was magic as she dashed KDF hopes with great service in the final moments of the game.

The bankers were rigid in blocks and backcourt defence during the entire 3 sets. That ludicrously congested space denying KDF any chances of scoring points during the second and third set.

All odds seemed to suggest that the defence ladies were difficult to beat during the first set that saw them loose by 27-25 but KCB masterminded the one sided victory confirming re-emergence of the bankers as a dominant volleyball power.

“It feels really good to know that we were able to put all that practice for the last three months into the Bungoma outing and that we were able to get a win in the finals “, exclaimed a delighted KCB Head Coach Vernon Khayinga.

The new players were brilliant as we worked hard to ensure that the KDF team lost power heading into the second set, he added.

The journey to the finals saw KCB defeat Bungoma County by 3-0 in a fixture that started very low. KCB dominated the next two sets before the match was halted in the 3rd set for one hour following the heavy downpour. The victory paved way for the final showdown with defence forces ladies. KCB pulled from behind to win the first set before dominating in the remaining sets. Phosca Kasisi had superb attacks that saw KCB carry the day.
