KCB Women’s Volleyball Team off to Tunisia for African Club Championships

KCB Women Volleyball team will take part in the African Club Championships in Tunisia which kicks off tomorrow (May 19) and through June 1, 2022.

The KCB Bank-sponsored squad leaves the country tomorrow morning for Tunis ahead of their first match over the weekend.

The team which currently tops the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league will join other Kenyan sides; Kenya Prisons and Kenya Pipeline in the competition.

This year’s edition of the Confederation Africaine de Volleyball (CABV) Women Club Championship has attracted 13 women’s volleyball teams from across the continent.

KCB Head of Corporate Affairs Judith Sidi, who is also the team's patron said: “We want to give the team international exposure, learn best practice, networking and showcase best KCB talent on the volleyball platform.” She spoke during the team’s send-off in Nairobi earlier today.

On his part, KCB women’s volleyball team Technical Director Paul Bitok expressed his confidence in the team which he says has had adequate preparations for the club competitions. He also believes the team will be among the three top clubs in the tournament owing to its depth and experience.

“We have had intense training for the past six months. The Lionesses are ready to roar in Tunis. The morale in the team is unbelievable and I am sure we will emerge top three after the competition.” Said Bitok.

The 14-player team which will be captained by Edith Wisa will leave the country tomorrow morning and is expected to kickstart their campaign this weekend. Five of the KCB women’s volleyball team players are currently on the national team.
