KCB Bank Cements Education Sector Support, Puts KShs. 20M into Head Teachers Meeting

KCB Bank has reaffirmed its support towards the growth of the education sector by sponsoring the upcoming head teachers’ conference in Mombasa.

The Bank today committed KShs. 20 million to the Kenya Secondary School Heads of Association (KESSHA) ahead of their 44th Annual National Conference scheduled for Monday next week.

The annual convention is set to bring together more than 7,000 school principals drawn from private and public learning institutions across the country to streamline all efforts being realized in the Education sector.

KCB Bank currently supports over 23,000 learning centres by consistently developing products and services tailored to allow for a seamless experience in education financing.

“We believe that education for all is an integral part of the global push to end extreme poverty, boost shared prosperity, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.  To this end, we continue to support the strengthening of the education system to deliver quality learning for all” said Annastacia Kimtai, the KCB Bank Kenya Retail Director.

In an effort to help schools implement a smooth and seamless payment process for parents as well as reduce the risk of theft of school funds, KCB Bank launched two innovative products KCB Lipa Karo and Malipo Portal to counter these challenges. The innovations allow for parents/guardians to pay fees directly from their individual accounts to the school account and conveniently make payments from any location instantly and securely.

With the availability of Malipo Portal, banking time and possible inefficiencies have been eliminated by the platform. Officials in learning institutions today have unlimited access to school fees and can make real time confirmation of payments from different sources be it from an agent, branch or Mpesa Lipa Karo.

Further, KCB Bank is supporting schools improve their infrastructure, donations of learning materials, providing scholarships for needy but bright young Kenyans, and issuing 100 per cent of school bus loans.

“We are committed to continually innovate products to meet the specific and unique needs for the students, staff and institutions,” said Mrs. Kimtai.

Through the KCB Foundation, the Bank provides secondary education scholarships to bright but needy students. The intention is to give full scholarship for the four years of secondary education to 240 beneficiaries every year.
