Eight-time Kenya Chess Premier League champions KCB are set to compete in the Nakuru Open Chess Tournament, scheduled for May 1–3, 2025, at the Capital Hill Hotel in Nakuru City.
Led by Candidate Master Benjamin Magana, the KCB team will take on challengers across the three categories: Open, Ladies, and Junior sections where winners will be rewarded cash prizes and trophies.
This past weekend, FIDE Masters Joyce Nyaruai and Martin Njoroge won the ladies section and the open section respectively in the SOM International Open Chess Championship in Kampala, Uganda.
Speaking ahead of the tourney, KCB Chess Team Head Coach Benjamin Magana said: “It is going to be an interesting tournament in Nakuru. We expect top players from around the country and across the region to grace the event. As KCB, we are ready for the task ahead.”
