KCB, in its commitment to sustainability and community development, recently supported Machakos Boys High School with a donation of rugby and football kits, along with balls for the school’s teams. This gesture not only fosters sports development but also aligns with KCB’s broader vision of supporting quality education and promoting well-being, in line with SDG 4: Quality Education.
Additionally, KCB donated over 500 fruit seedlings to be planted within the school grounds, contributing to SDG 13: Climate Action. These seedlings will not only help green the school environment but also provide fruits for over 2,000 students, promoting healthier living and a sustainable ecosystem.
Kenya 7s Co-Captain and KCB Rugby player Vincent Onyala, along with Coach Peter Kilonzo, led a sports clinic and motivational talk for the players, encouraging physical activity and instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience—essential life skills that complement academic learning.
Machakos Boys High School’s Chief Principal, Benson Somba, lauded KCB’s support, stating, “KCB has been an avid partner of our school. The donation of sports kits and balls will significantly reduce our costs in sports, allowing us to focus more resources on other areas of development. The fruit seedlings will not only green our environment but also provide food security for our students. We are especially grateful for KCB Foundation’s sponsorship of over 28 students through the KCB Scholars Program, which has ensured access to education for many bright but underprivileged students. KCB also helped transition from firewood to LPG for which reduced the school's carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency”
