Derick Otanga said he is delighted with how his first year at KCB FC has panned out - on the pitch, at least. The in-form striker picked up the prestigious Kenya Premier League Player of the Month award on Friday, for his performances in July. Derick Otanga enjoyed a superb start to the month, leading the Bankers to the top of the league summit with the striker netting in the crucial matches during the month.
KCB FC, which is sitting on top of the table, jointly with Tusker FC, is banking on Derick to secure the first ever premiership trophy.
“I think it has been a very good year for me - a difficult time for everyone at the same way, as we all know what’s going on in the world. But for me, professionally, [it] was a good year. As I said, I want to achieve other kind of trophies and awards, but of course I’m really happy to make this history and I am looking forward to help the team in the remaining part of the season and let’s see where we end up, ” he said.
KCB played out to a draw yesterday against former champions Gor Mahia.
