Prisca and Team Bag First Leg of KCB Golf Series in Mombasa

The four-ball of Prisca Jebet, Rishi Dodhia, Florence Karimi, and Orpha Wamaitha returned a combined score of 123 points to emerge as the overall winners of the first leg of the 2024 KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the par 71 Mombasa Golf Club on Saturday evening.

The quartet triumphed over the team led by Mombasa Club captain James Gitonga, Elijah Ibua, Gabriel, Gakuo, and Peter Karanja who returned 112 points to settle for the second position. The two teams have booked a slot in this year’s grand finale slated for December.

Speaking after their win, an ecstatic Prisca Jebet said: “We had an amazing golf outing here today. We wanted to participate in the tour’s grand finale, more reason why we pushed ourselves to ensure that a win was the only outcome at the end of the day. I cannot wait to compete against top golfers in the country and across the region later this year.”

Handicap 20 golfer Willy Sang soared high to card an impressive 40 stableford points to be crowned the overall winner award beating a large field of 138 golfers who graced the tourney.

Former club chairman Peter Kimanga who plays off handicap 12 showcased a valiant display and golf prowess after clinching 39 points to claim the men’s winner award at the lush Mombasa course.

In the hotly contested women’s category, Orpha Wamaitha carded an excellent 39 Stableford points to clinch the award. Mattias Lagermo on the other hand scooped the guest winner award.

KCB’s Ibrahim Lande who plays off handicap 13 bagged the staff winner award while handicap 8 golfer Martin Kiambi clinched the runner-up position after returning 34 stableford points. The nearest to the pin award went to Dr. Kikwai Kibet.

Saturday’s action will culminate in a juniors’ golf clinic on Sunday at the same venue and a tree-planting exercise at the same venue.

Additionally, every Monday KCB will host a caddies’ tournament across the 11 qualifying legs of the 2024 action in a bid to bring everyone on board to relish the experience.

The bank has also partnered with Beulah City, a real estate property firm that has committed to giving out an apartment (in the Ikhaya Beulah Genesis project) valued at KShs. 2.1 million as the hole-in-one prize for every leg of the 2024 tour.

Eldoret Golf Club will play host to the second leg of the 2024 KCB East Africa Golf Tour on February 17, 2024.
