The second edition of the Village Market open chess championship is slated for 19th-20th March 2022.
The competition will have the open category, ladies, people living with disabilities (PWDs), and juniors.
KCB Chess club will participate in the event as players look to sharpen their skills before the Kenya National Chess League resumes on 26th March 2022.
Candidate Master Ben Magana admits the tournament is a good platform for the players to improve their game as well as prepare for the league and the World Chess Olympiad set for later this year.
The overall winner in the open category will walk home with KShs. 30,000, in the ladies category KShs. 20,000, juniors KShs. 3,000 and a trophy while in the PWDs category KShs. 7,500.
