Change Is Great. We Did It For You

Do you remember the good old days when the Nokia 3310 fulfilled all your needs? The golden old days when the cheapest denomination of airtime you could get was Sh250 or even Sh500.

The Nokia 3310 was the best in the market; there were other phones, of course but they weren’t as legit as that weapon. It could make calls; send those expensive text messages that cost around five bob or 10 bob; you could play snake when you were bored in the matatu; enjoy funky monophonic tunes and most of all, it could fall a thousand times and bounce back like nothing happened.

Then technology developed: the internet was born, calls and message rates became cheaper, and our needs for easier communication grew. Fast forward to your current smartphone that is able to do almost everything, except cook food and bring your bed to you.

The long and short of it all is, change is inevitable, whether we like it or not, things change: mostly for the better. KCB Bank is embracing this change and that is why for only two days out of the 365 days in a year, we were partially inaccessible, all because we wanted to make your banking experience better.

We were upgrading our systems to leave you happy and stress-free through a seamless banking experience that will make sure you get exactly what you want, when exactly you want it.

Since 2007, the bank has been using T24 – R8 as the core banking system. This system was introduced to make banking operations smoother and to improve the customer experience. But over time, the system has become outdated and this has brought with it a myriad of challenges from time to time.

In order to fix this, we’ve opted to level up and switch to T24 – R14 which is an internationally updated banking core system that is sure to iron out all the issues that existed when using T24 – R8. It is this upgrade that was scheduled for the 12th & 13th August 2016.

As we underwent this integral change, we made sure that you still had access to some transactions on the alternative channels and our 24 hour customer care remained open to respond to your queries.
