Covid 19? We are down but definitely not out.

Day 7 of Self Quarantine. It’s 6pm. I have just finished making dinner (ya, I can cook, guys, najua wengi wenu mko surprised but I can make a mean meal. BTW I’m still open for relationship applications) and let me tell you, the week I’ve had! Aiyam taiyad!

When this whole COVID-19 thing started haikosi wengi wenu mlichukua kama jokes. Juzi tu over the weekend I passed by a certain popular club, sitataja majina, juu najua nitakuwa nimechomea wengi wenu, and it was packed. Business as usual. I mean, I’m also kinda guilty of thinking things wouldn’t get so out of hand but look at us now, being taught how important hand washing is…

Najua huku tunapenda jokes sana but these are serious times. This corona virus thing is not to be taken lightly. This will probably be our new normal for the next couple of weeks. You might be used to washing your hands only when you’re about to eat but that will have to change. Don’t get me started on how Wakenya tumependa enjoyment; staying indoors is just not in our damu. I’m sure hiyo ndiyo imeleta makasiriko most. But imagine it shall pass… Kaeni tu nyumbani priss.

Sos, Wafula and I had a heart to heart over the weekend na imebidii tuzoee wozzap video calls sasa. It’s the closest thing to physical contact right now aki. And Sidebar, who else is having a few laughs when you log onto work conference calls? Aki maajabu za background noises za watu wengine! Kuna mute button msee. Anyway, I’ve digressed…….we were talking about how everything was unfolding, our extreme boredom and giving each other ideas on what to do over the next few weeks. So on that note, since napenda kuwasaidia sana here are a some things you can consider doing:

Instead of just doing your daily work and when you’re done kukaa ndee, si ujiendeleze kidogo with a few courses online. Depending on your field and interests, there’s countless of free courses you can find that will not only keep you occupied but also endeleza and grow your skills. Kwanza mimi I plan on doing this ndio nikirudi job at least I can ask for a ka raise coz of my new found abilities. Wacheni kunicheka.

Also sasa you see that hobby you’ve been putting on hold ati coz you don’t have time? My friend, time is all you have now. Hakuna excuses. But yo, seriously, what better time to nurture your hidden talent, or turn that hobby you love into something productive? You’ll be surprised at how much it will help keep you sane during this time. Also, don’t forget to keep checking on your friends and fam. They are definitely as lonely as you – via phone call of course. And please tafadhali, don’t go shagz. Older people are especially vulnerable to this disease so staying away is actually keeping them safe. Inauma yes, but itabidi tuzoee. Those of you who don’t live alone bahati yenu BTW. Enjoy your time with the watus.

So guys, let’s stay home unless you really have to leave the house. Na si kwenda enjoyment… That is not an emergency. Social distancing will be crucial these next few weeks as it will help flatten the curve on the spread of the disease, easing the pressure on our limited medical facilities and health workers.

BTW, for all those fighting this disease on the forefront, we acknowledge you, salute you and appreciate you! So tuendelee kupendana, but kwa umbali.

Over&Out,
