As the world prepares to usher in the new American president, the majority can only look back to the nostalgic feeling that engulfed the whole universe on such a day eight years ago.
It was a different feeling than what exists now as the world was at that time witnessing the rise of the first Black – American President of the free world.
There was just this ray of hope in everyone’s heart that no one could explain and his years in the oval office prove that he served the world well. He brought much more meaning to being black even through America’s and the World’s darkest time.
True composure, stealth and the perfect gentleman. So this time around let us dedicate this round of Throwbacks to none other than America’s greatest and truest – First Black Family.
Barack Obama was the truest definition of a smooth operator – by this, I don’t mean his ability to sweep women off their feet with his romantic gestures to Michelle (Okay, well that too) But in actual sense, this guy was able to fit in literally everywhere.
His ability to adapt to any situation and handle it in the most mature manner possible, was admirable in every way. He possessed the rare ability to make everything look good and let’s face it, he was undoubtedly the world’s most likeable president of the century.
His oratory prowess could not be compared to any other leader in modern day and age. You didn’t have to understand English to be captivated by his address.
This level of leadership and character can only be respected as the world waits for a leader of his stature to rise up again. (Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long) His absolute soberness and compassionate ways to relate to the toughest or joyous of times also proved that leaders are only human.
Who would ever forget the many times he broke into song? It may have been to express his best sentiments or to break the ice or maybe it was just his personality. No one really cared, we all enjoyed and treasured such moments.
Of even more interest was that his vocals never let him down and his tunes easily resonated with the audience and this only made the world love him even more.
Barack and Michelle were the decade’s Best couple and their relationship proved that true love did actually exist. In a world which glorifies the sponsor/ ‘sponsoree’ relationship, the Obama’s presented the perfect model relationship that is meant to be emulated by this seemingly ‘lost’ millennial generation.
In some quarters they were even referred to as the happily ever after version of our favorite childhood stories only this time they were living proof.
The Obama’s fully represented the model family dream and as such they are indisputably considered as the Ideal First Family. With close to none scandals and nothing but love for them from their first to their last day in office, the world will definitely miss this first family.
But who knows, Michelle might just decide to take us by surprise sometime in the future. Let us wait.
