Taking care of your mental health during COVID19 is so important
Is it too soon to pour my heart out about how I’m missing kina Sospeter and Wafula ama nikanyagie tu hiyo story? Ei bana don’t judge; it’s 2020, we should have all said a much needed goodbye to masculine toxicity by now fellaz. Heh, people anyweiii, I need strength. But truth is, we all do at this time.
A lot of us are on week three of working from home; week three of not seeing much of our colleagues and friends; week three of not seeing a lot of our family and loved ones; week three of not being able to move about freely. Even worse some of us are trying to beat this disease on the frontline; some are suffering from it and sadly, some have lost their loved ones because of it. So yes people. We need strength.
Those like me who live alone and are single (Mungu saidia!) kwanza! Wacha tu. We shall overcome. Lakini for real people, we will get through this. This weekend is especially going to be a tough one; it being Easter and all. Aki this holiday had totally slipped my mind until a colleague mentioned it then I kumbukad ati kuna aka holiday. Doesn’t feel like it TBH.
Kwanza vile I had plans to tanga this our Kenya over Easter. And I know I’m not the only one. We all had plans; whether it was to take a much needed break from jobo and travel ama just spending time with the fam… But seeing as we will be spending the holidays indoors we might as well make the most out of it.
Technology is your best friend right now. You can order almost anything straight to your doorstep so bado unaweza kuwa na feast kama wewe ni mzembe kupika kama mimi. And most importantly you can still parte after parte online thanks to video calls and other online platforms. So if it’s fam you want to see, there you have it.
Najua niko na mawaidha mingi leo but what I’m trying to drive at is your mental health. It’s just as important as that your physical health you’re trying to maintain by staying indoors. It won’t be easy but there are ways you can ease this pressure off yourself. Keeping close contact with your wapendwas will be key during this time. And thanks to technology this will be a bit of a breeze until this all settles down.
It’s just a matter of when. This ting we are going through none of us have ever experienced so we are all just learning to cope as we go by. Huko solo. So until then, sit tight. And priss Kenyans, let’s just follow instructions. Najua ni hard, (kwanza that curfew; yenyewe for some people it’s genuinely hard to beat it given their jobs and limitation of transport) but let’s just try and comply, long as it will take for us to zoea things. Tusikuwe vichwa ngumu.
Wacha I end this with an inspirational trend I saw on these Twitter streets a few days ago; “Together we stand”. Okay I changed it from #WeStandWithKenyans lakini I believe the point has been driven home sindio J?
Over and out, The Witty Banker
