Scammer Alert: Tips on How To Spot These Peeps

How’s ya’ll’s week going? Mmekuwa busy na nini this week indoors? Nipatieni ideas coz Admin is getting B.O.R.E.D. Tunaingia weekend and I am oh so excited! Kulala nayo. Pia kuna series kadhaa I need to catch up on. This week aki I slipped; did not work out much as promised lakini we shall resume normal programming next week

Lakini wacha niwaulize tu, have you guys noticed how fraudsters have been waaay on top of their game these past few months ama ni number yangu tu inasambazwa? Let me not lie, I LOL every time I get those ‘tuma pesa kwa hii number’ texts from Kamiti guys or woreva, but the truth is a lot of people still fall for these tricks.

Juzi juzi tu the housie of my neighbor alikuwa amekuja kunioshea nyumba and she gave me a familiar storo, about how someone called her and was asking her to send them her pin and ID number coz sijui what was up with the system. Sad thing is she fell for it and she sent them the info but she didn’t have any cash on there and she had her details changed. Vile I like saving on my KCB MPESA I can’t imagine the loss if I fell for such a trick woi.

But on the real tho, you might think you’re too smart for these ninjas but they are also moving with the times and getting smarter erryday. From fishy calls asking for personal info to those ones who tell you you’ve won but you don’t recall ever participating in any compe.

Kwanza during this period, when we’re all using mobile and online banking for almost everything (because safety… Avoid handling cash if you still are my guy). This has given them an avenue to try and trick as many people as they possibly can.

Anyone can be duped, don’t forget that. Common ways scammers trick guys, asking for your PIN, ID number or other personal info, asking for sensitive info for password resets. Oh and you will also notice that they usually have such a sense of urgency, like you feel have to follow their requests ASAP.

So tuwache kucheka tu when we get these dodgy messages or calls and report them hapa +254732187000, +254711087000, send an email to contactcentre@kcbgroup.com ama SMS 22522. Let’s stay safe even in our banking and transactions. Spread awareness to your peeps too. And if you’re a scammer reading this, nini inawasumbia aki ???

Over&Out,

The Witty Banker.
